Uninstall Pangolin CLI
Remove Pangolin CLI, its background services, and local config
This guide covers removing the Pangolin CLI from a host. The same binary can run a site or a client. Uninstall whichever services you installed, then remove the binary and config.
Uninstalling the CLI stops tunnels started by this binary. Sites and machine clients still exist in Pangolin until you delete them in the dashboard.
For standalone Newt, see Uninstall Newt.
Stop Background Services
If you installed a site or client service with the CLI, remove it first:
sudo pangolin service uninstall site
sudo pangolin service uninstall clientRun only the commands for services you actually installed. Each command stops the service and removes its unit (systemd, launchd, or Windows service) and related environment file under /etc/pangolin on Linux.
If you created a manual systemd unit (for example /etc/systemd/system/pangolin-site.service or pangolin-cli.service) instead of using pangolin service install, stop and remove that unit yourself:
sudo systemctl disable --now pangolin-site
sudo rm -f /etc/systemd/system/pangolin-site.service
sudo rm -f /etc/pangolin/pangolin-site.env
sudo systemctl daemon-reloadAdjust the unit and env file names to match what you created.
Remove the Binary
Find and delete the pangolin binary:
sudo rm -f "$(command -v pangolin)"The installer usually places it at /usr/local/bin/pangolin.
Windows MSI
If you installed with the Windows CLI installer, uninstall Pangolin CLI from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, or run the MSI in uninstall mode.
If you installed the CLI from the Windows desktop app menu (Install Pangolin CLI), uninstall it the same way, or remove it when you uninstall the Windows app.
Remove Local Config (Optional)
The CLI stores settings and session data under its config directory. Print the path, then delete it:
pangolin config path
rm -rf ~/.config/pangolinOn every platform the default is ~/.config/pangolin (including config.json, site.json when you ran a site, and logs). Remove that directory only if you do not need the saved login or site credentials.
Docker
From the directory that contains your CLI docker-compose.yml:
docker compose downRemove Compose files and any secret files you created. Optionally remove the image:
docker image rm fosrl/pangolin-cliIf you started the CLI with docker run, stop and remove that container, then remove the image the same way.
Kubernetes
If you deployed the client with the Kubernetes manifests, delete the Deployment (and any related ServiceAccount, Secret, or ConfigMap) from the namespace you used:
kubectl delete deployment <pangolin-cli-deployment> -n <namespace>Was this page helpful?
